It has been some time since I have written anything in a series. I enjoyed writing about the Top 10 Health Commandments and the “What is Fitness Series”. In the Top 10 Health Commandments, I discussed 10 elements of fitness that are grounded in one’s mindset when discovering health and fitness. In those blogs, I provide action steps to help apply the corresponding principle. In the “What is Fitness Series”, I discussed how we can apply fitness in different aspects of our lives and that fitness does not always just mean physical, rather it could mean mental fitness, relationship fitness or having fitness in a variety of areas of our lives. If one has not had the chance to read either of those blog series, they are back in the 2023 blogs. Whether the reader agrees with me or not on those ideas, I do think it provides a talking point from which to form one’s own opinion of the topic.
In this new series, my goals are to discuss the foundations of health and fitness, describe how these differ from the previous two series by how we act out our health and fitness. I want to provide my take and understanding of the topic as well as provide some background information as well as action step that gives the reader a means by which to do that foundation. I will also provide resources that offer the reader another avenue by which to be educated on the respective foundation. I hope this helps the reader decide how to best apply these skills as they see fit.
In this series, I will discuss the following as the foundations of health and fitness.
1. Sleep
2. Nutrition
3. Water Intake
4. Strength Training
5. Aerobic Training
6. Supplementation
7. Not Smoking
8. Drinking of Alcohol
9. Mobility
10. Stress Reduction
11. Recovery
12. Mental Stimulation
These twelve elements are foundational elements that I believe need to be address in order to execute on a health filled life.
